Instructions for adding a Spotlight Article to the front page
Email the author(s) to get a high-resolution jpeg image of the best phylogeny figure from the paper. Invite them to become members of the LepTree.net site if they are not already.
Prepare the image: The image should be a .jpg file, with a size no wider than 522 pixels, and probably should be at least 500 pixels. Height is less important. Image resolution should be 72 dpi. Give the image a name that does not include characters like “&”
Upload the image from the article:
- Go to My Content Tools in the sidebar, then Create Content, then Image
- For title, use author name and number of figure (e.g. Simonson Fig 4)
- Browse for the image on your hard drive
- Choose category "Recent literature figures"
- In the body, put text similar to the caption in the paper. E.g.) “Figure 4 from Simonsen et al 2006. The combined analysis of all four datasets. The single most parsimonious tree (3724 steps, CI = 0.41, RI = 0.54). The numbers above the nodes are Bremer support values, whereas the numbers below the nodes are partitioned Bremer support values yielded by morphology, COI, EF-1a and wingless respectively.”
You can italicize by placing the html code <i> before the text to be italicized and </i> after it. - If possible, change the authoring information to be the author of the paper or the person who chose it for spotlighting
- Click on submit button (or preview first, but then don't forget to submit).
Create the news story:
- Go to My Content Tools in the sidebar, then Create Content, then Story
- For title, not the full title of the article, but a short or “headline” version, plus the citatiion, e.g. Phylogeny of Argynnini -- Simonsen et al. 2006
- Choose Category under stories: Recent literature
- Body should use the format shown in http://www.leptree.net/simonsen_et_al_2006:
a. Reference
b. Abstract
c. Image thumbnail (see next step) - Place your cursor at the bottom of the box for the Body. Use the "add image" under the body to add a thumbnail to the bottom that links to the image. You should see your image as the first possible one in the collection, so click on it. Delete the text in the boxes for Title and Caption. Then insert – the code will go at the bottom of the body.
- If possible, change the authoring information to be the author of the paper or the person who chose it for spotlighting or the person who chose it for spotlighting
- Click on the submit button
