Community overview
One major goal of LepTree is to provide interactive web tools which help lepidopterists to communicate and collaborate with each other. Features currently available:
A Project Directory into which any registered user can enter a description of her/his research project(s) or interests. The entry form includes fields for field and laboratory protocols, which we hope that users will freely share. It also includes fields for exchange of information on specimen acquisition, including items such as specimens sought, specimens potentially available to others, calls for coordination of collecting plans, etc. We hope the directory will provide both a comprehensive summary of current efforts in lepidopteran phylogenetics, and a major forum for informal information exchange among researchers. We encourage all lepidopterists to contribute.
A COMMUNITY RESULTS PAGE, on which all lepidopterists are invited to post summaries post and figures from work in progress, in advance of final publication.
A References Exchange, which we hope will become a comprehensive searchable compilation of literature on lepidopteran phylogeny, through contributions from users.
A Forum where users can post specific notices or queries about research projects.
Workgroup areas (password protected if desired) will allow distantly located researchers to come together and share ideas as they develop grant proposals, vocabularies, or manuscripts.
